Training We Fund

In addition to raising money to purchase ultrasound machines for crisis pregnancy centers, 4US also funds training, continuing education and certification to ensure top notch quality of care for mothers who receive support from a 4US beneficiary.

Nurses that who receive 4US-funded training complete a three day Limited Obstetrical Ultrasound course. The course is designed as an introduction to obstetrical ultrasound scanning and covers obstetrical fundamentals from documenting fetal biometry to ultrasound physics. Upon completion of the course, nurses receive certification to begin supervised scans.

After gaining enough supervised scanning experience, 4US then pays for one week of on-site skills training by Sonography Now. This program allows nurses to train in their own clinics with their own equipment. A representative from Sonography Now reviews, tests, and evaluates how technicians work in their own environment. Upon completion of the course, the medical professionals receive certification through Sonography Now. Additionally, when funding permits, technicians with advanced experience in ultrasound sonography are encouraged to participate in more advanced training.

All clinics that have equipment donated by 4US must also commit to a Standard of Care. One important aspect of this commitment is that all clinics with 4US-funded ultrasound machines must be under the guidance of a Medical Director to ensure a high level of care. Lastly, as medical technology continues to advance, this commitment asks that each clinic periodically review their scans against industry standards to ensure that the machines produce quality images comparable to that standard.
